excellent content, but unconvenient format The title of the book precisely reflects the contents, it contains the most up-to-date and very comprehensive (about 1000 pages) overview of all C++ language features. For beginners it will serve as a perfect companion for their other primary textbook, for everybody else as an indispensible everyday reference. The book can also be read through as a textbook if you have time, the language is easy and clear. There is also a good coverage of STL, and the differences between C++ and C. On a different note, this was my first experience with e-books and I didn't like this e-format at all. I decided to stick with the paper format in the future, because you can't read an e-book lying down, even if you use a laptop. I am constantly inhibited by the fragility and immobility of the computer. I personally need to change positions often if I read a long document. Finally I just printed out the book, which was also a bit of a hassle; this Adobe eBook reader requires restarting the system during installation, which made it impossible to print the document in computer labs at school. At work I had to hook my computer up to a big network printer. In general, this is a very useful book, if you are comfortable with e-format or can easily print it out. |
